GEMMA MIRÓ CELLAR

Gemma Miró is the project of a young wine grower from Falset, in the Priorat region. Biologist with a master’s degree in Viticulture and Oenology, in 2020 she takes up work on her grandfather’s piece with the aim of recovering the family vineyard and working on it in a humble and respectful way.
A family bond between grandfather and granddaughter to continue giving value to the land, the farming and the 40-year-old vines that grow in licorice, clay and saulón soils on the Les Pinyanes estate. A small project, less than one hectare of vineyard cultivated and worked manually where the typical varieties of the area live together: caranyena, grenache and muscatel grape. Wines to give life, again, to the vines at home.
He vinifies the entire Les Pinyanes estate, producing a total of 3 wines. He produced his first wine (La Partió) in 2021 and the following year, he vinified the entire estate, producing the first vintages of La Lambretta and Les Agulles 2022

THE LAMBRETTA 2023
ORIGIN: Falsetto (Priorat)
VARIETY: 100% grape muscat

The Lambretta 2023 is a monovarietal of grape Muscat from 40-year-old vines and from a private and unique estate formed by the mixture of three types of soil: saulón, clay and licorice, characteristic of the Priorat area. The origin of the name comes from conversations with Grandpa, when he and Grandma were riding the second-hand Lambretta they had towards the piece, loaded with boxes to fill them with this grape. When they arrived in town, they always left a box at home and we ate the muscatel on the terrace of grandparents house With the other boxes, the grandmother sold the muscatel in her fruit and vegetable shop in the village.
PREPARATION: harvest at the end of August. Whole grain, maceration with the skins for a week and aging in cement. It is a wine with minimal intervention by extract the maximum expression of this unique vineyard.
TASTING NOTES: transparent golden color. Lambretta 2023 is a vintage Muscat profile that seeks the freshest expression of this variety, with subtle notes citrus and Mediterranean aromas. Elegant and surprising in the mouth. A wine that represents the summers at the grandparents’ house, chopping muscatels for a snack.
THE NEEDLES 2023

Les Agulles 2023 is a monovarietal of black garnet from 40-year-old vines and from a private and unique estate formed by the mixture of three types of soil: saulón, clay and licorice, characteristic of the Priorat area. The origin of the name comes as a tribute to grandmother Mariona, where from the warmth of the house, she taught us to grow up as strong and independent women. She started at a very young age to work in the town’s tailor shop, in Falset, making pants patterns while helping my grandfather with the piece work and partly, selling food products in the shop they had in the town. In my mind I associated sewing needles and pine needles (the leaves of the tree) from
the farm where the vine grows, Les Pinyanes, and I thought it was a very beautiful symbiosis to remember them both.
PREPARATION: harvest at the end of August. Whole grain, macerated with the skins for three days and fermented in stainless steel and in an old 500 L barrel. It is a wine made with minimal intervention to extract the maximum expression of this unique vineyard.
TASTING NOTES: cherry color. Les Agulles 2023 is a grenache profile that seeks the most elegant expression of this variety, with subtle notes of red fruit aromas and Mediterranean herbs. cool and done A wine in memory of grandma.

Partió 2023 is a monovarietal of caranyena from 40-year-old vines and from a private and unique estate formed by the mixture of three types of soil: saulón, clay and licorice, characteristic of the Priorat area. The origin of the name comes from the location of the farm where this vineyard is located, which is between the municipalities of Falset, Marçà and Bellmunt del Priorat. This is called a partition, but my grandfather always called it “La Partió”, and that’s where the name for the first wine of my personal project comes from.
PREPARATION: harvested at the end of August and vinified in an artisanal way as my grandfather used to do it: 50% semi-carbonated with whole grapes and turnips and 50% destemmed whole grain.
Maceration with the skins for about a week. It is a wine with minimal intervention to extract the maximum expression of this unique vineyard.
TASTING NOTES: purple color. Partió 2023 is a caranyena profile that seeks the fresh expression of the wildest and wildest Mediterranean, with notes of red and black fruit and Balsamic touches. Elegant and fine. A wine that represents the legacy of the granddaughter and takes on the path that her grandfather began.
