VINEYARD TOURS IN 4×4 TO THE WINE CATHEDRAL is a unique wine tourism experience in Priorat, integrated into the Grand Tour of Catalonia , which allows you to discover one of the most spectacular wine-growing landscapes in the country in a comfortable and complete way. An ideal proposal for all of you who want to get to know the authentic Priorat , its vineyard slopes, its terroirs and its historical heritage, without rushing and with all the comforts.
The Priorat stands out for its steep orography, llicorella soils and vineyards that climb the impossible slopes of the Serra de Montsant. This activity offers you the possibility of touring this unique territory with a circular itinerary in a 4×4 vehicle , with departure and arrival in Cornudella de Montsant , one of the most emblematic wine villages in the region.
During the route, you will cross vineyards and estates registered in both the DOQ Priorat and the DO Montsant , discovering on the ground the differences in soil, orientation and altitude that define the character of the wines. Accompanied by a local guide, you will learn about the winemaking history of the territory, the work in the vineyard, the grape varieties and the importance of the landscape in the final quality of the wine. All of this makes this activity an excellent way to understand the concept of terroir while enjoying the landscape at the foot of the Serra de Montsant Natural Park .
The route culminates with a visit to one of the most emblematic spaces of the Priorat: the Celler Cooperatiu de Cornudella de Montsant , a true Cathedral of Wine in the modernist style , with more than 100 years of history. This building, considered an industrial monument, is a jewel of the Catalan architectural heritage and a symbol of the town’s wine-growing past and present.
During the guided tour of the modernist winery , you will discover the winemaking process, from the arrival of the grapes to bottling, and you will understand how tradition and innovation coexist in current wine production. To close the experience, you will enjoy a tasting of 3 wines made in the same winery , accompanied by km 0 products , which highlight local gastronomy and producers.
